The tourism ministry of India has roped in technology giant Google to improve its website with new features. The government has sought the help of Google to create 3D rotating views of places and a virtual reality experience of Indian monuments on its Incredible India website.
“We want to give tourists a virtual reality experience, and Google has the technology and the product. We hope this will inspire more people to come to India,” said KJ Alphonse, Tourism Minister of the country.
The plan to improve tourism website is part of the government’s strategy to attract more tourist traffic to India in coming days. The newly designed website will provide all the necessary information about the main tourist attractions of the country along with an emphasis on its rich heritage.
Earlier, in April, Google Arts & Culture had partnered with the Ministry of Tourism to unveil a 360-degree virtual reality video for the global ‘Incredible India’ tourism campaign.
