Swiggy launches special initiative to cover remote locations

Food delivery platform Swiggy launches Swiggy Access, an initiative to reach out to the remote customers, at Bangalore. Under this initiative, Swiggy provides kitchen space for partner restaurants and caters to their orders.

The move helps its partner restaurants to expand to newer areas. Moreover, Swiggy Access strives to ensure the best experience for customers through timely delivery.

As an initial step, Swiggy Access has been launched in Marathahalli, Bangalore, in restaurants Keventers and Leon Grill along with other restaurants owned by Swiggy. Through this initiative the company eyes a surge in profit as the number of deliveries will be higher.

“We are integrating restaurants based on the search results by customers and the number of reviews they get,” said Sriharsha Majety, CEO and Co-founder, Swiggy. The company emphasises the areas with less number of Swiggy-partnered restaurants and higher demand.

“With Swiggy Access, we try to provide hassle-free food delivery experience for our customers. The time taken for delivery may even come down to 5 minutes”, said Majety.
Under the Access initiative, the company will charge higher commission from partner restaurants on each delivered item.

Swiggy, founded in 2014, also has plans to expand its service to other cities as the number of customers is increasing every year. Currently it operates in Bangalore, Delhi, Gurgaon, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. The company had received an investment of $80 million from Naspers earlier this year to compete with rival, Zomato.
