Entrepreneurs: Hitesh Nigam & Praneeta Shringi
Business Name: Design Answers
Welcome to Entrepreneurs of India #startupstories episode 116
Advertising is not just creating designs for brands. It primarily involves solving a customer pain point in a creative way. Unlike other businesses, the driving force of the advertising field is creativity. The moment you run out of ideas, you’re finished. So, it takes a Herculean task to run a creative business.
Founded by Praneeta Shringi and Hitesh Nigam, Design Answers is an agency that helps brands address a problem in the market with superlative creativity. In size, it may not be as big as its counterparts, but what makes the company stand out is its unique user-centric approach. How did Design Answers happen? What were the hurdles they faced on the way? The founders share the story.
1) How did you get your idea for this business?
Praneeta: I think entrepreneurship came to me a bit naturally and decisively in my attempt to strike a work life balance. With my two little ones’ in tow, I simply wanted to continue to do what I knew best but of course, innovatively.
Hitesh: With so many years of being in the advertising industry and worked with some of the top guys, it was now time to take to my calling and get back to my roots – art. I find my inspiration in the co-existence of art and design.
2) Why is “now” a good time for this idea to exist?
The good thing about our industry is that creativity never ceases to exist. Anything we do is driven by an idea and we rate our success in the innovation of our concepts and approach. We take to brands like a fish takes to water only because we keep our eyes and ears open to the environment around us and deliver solutions that are holistic, insightful and modern.
3) What was the reaction from your family when you first decided to become a entrepreneur?
You can never taste success till you don’t take the plunge. We threw ourselves into the deep side with full support from family and friends!
4) What was your biggest mistake in business and what did you learn from it?
There’s nothing we can pick out as such. We believe mistakes only allow you to introspect and assess how you could have delivered better and or handled a situation better. We look at mistakes positively and efficiently convert them into a learning experience which we hope will eventually pen down our success story.
5) What is your biggest obstacle in the next 12 months and how will you overcome it?
2019 is all about hunting and farming both. We are looking to scale up our organisation – from the projects we take on, our bench strength to the variety we deliver. We wouldn’t call this an obstacle, it’s rather a goal we’d like to reach.
6) What habits contribute to your success?
We haven’t reached our success point yet. We are working towards getting there and channeling our inner strength and positivity that have brought us this far, to continue to support us!
7) If you had the opportunity to start this business again what would you do differently?
Well, we teed-off pretty beautifully, so wouldn’t want to have done things any other way.
8) What is your favourite inspirational quote?
Small changes eventually add up to huge results.
9) Where do you find inspiration?
We find our inspiration in almost anything and everything! Whether it’s a walk in the park or a trip to the supermarket, a debate on national television to new government policies, there are numerous factors that inspire us almost instantly.
As artists and designers, we find this ability to experience the world and draw it into our work remarkably rewarding, and all we have to do is – keep our senses open!
10) What is your favourite book?
Praneeta: Giraffes can’t dance
11) What advice would you give to someone starting out?
When you start your journey, all you need to enter any workplace is an open mind and a spring in your step.
With Design Answers, Hitesh and Praneeta plunged themselves into one of the most aggressive domains in the world. It was a calculated risk. But they believed in their ability to help businesses solve their problems effectively. The zest for creativity helped the duo in their pursuit. Now Design Answers has grown into a reputed name in India’s advertising landscape with an expanding clientele.
As people who work in creative industry, they ask aspiring entrepreneurs to keep their senses open as it helps find solution to every problem in business. A big thanks to team Design Answers for stopping by to tell their story.
