When seven school friends -Vishnu, Arshaq, Muhsin, Sarbas, Jasim, Nayeem and Mehroof- realised they were bound together not only by their deep friendship but also their love for food, they set up a food truck-model platform. That’s how their brainchild, LOAF, was launched in Tirur, a major town in Malappuram, Kerala. Their in-house burgers soon became the talk the town.
The vision of these youngsters weren’t just the business. They put their heart and soul into serving the best food at affordable pricing without compromising the quality. They go to college everyday and work afternoon, showing us how students can dip their feet into entreprepreneurship while still keeping their academic interest intact.
Within a short span of time, Loaf has become a favourite spot to hang out with family and friends.Besides, they often elevate the dining experience with subtle live music concerts. Let’s unravel this delicious story!
1) How did you get your idea for this business?
Well,it started like:Seven college students who did their schooling together, used to congregate around at night.We always go places in forage of some extra exemplary food during weekends. That gave us the proposition of initiating up a food chronicle that exists as idiosyncratic from others.
Superior burgers were still what we were starving for during our weekend food quests. It is now the hour when café culture is at its peak and thus we forethought never to start a café. This constructed in us to foresee and think of a food truck and an outdoor setup to make it odd,unusual but at the same time to serve something which gives high pleasant to the taste buds of all people who consumes our food.
It took not less than and yeah roughly six months for us to propose Loaf and another one year to engineer and administer it and now it is 10 months of triumphant Loaf Lifestyle.
2) Why is “now” a good time for this idea to exist?
Our Loaf destination,which is Tirur,is a small borough in Malappuram district of Kerala and yes, it’s Malabar. Food culture in Malabar is so sturdy and thus we aspire it’s infallibly a ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ hour for this idea to subsist and survive.
Our intention is to depart antagonistic towards the vogue to forge a fresh vogue among connoisseurs. Our supposition soared when customers emerged advancing from contrast quarters to endeavour our delicacies and thus we yearn that we could meet their expectations which made them pop in on to Loaf again.
3) What was the reaction from your family when you first decided to become an entrepreneur?
Families of complete seven were very cooperative when we aroused our proposition before them. Since our financial schemes were dwarfish and awe-inspiring, none of them contradicted. They all buttressed us equally off-field and on-field as per their convenience.
Seven framers graduated and presently doing graduation in seven contrasting fields ranging from architecture to hotel/business management is what we think is the clout,power and yeah,the pillar behind Loaf
4) What was your biggest mistake in business and what did you learn from it?
It was those introductory three months where we did a plethora of errors. Every business has two junctures, one is the customers amusement outside and the other is the working compression behind it. Both will be varying inversely.
We made a bulk lot of flaws without knowing how to handle the accounts. And we studied, studied and studied by schooling the errors and that’s the pre-eminent formula not to model that error again.
5) What is your biggest obstacle in the next 12 months and how will you overcome it?
A restaurateur must be conscious on how to market his business, on how to drive in fresh customers and how to bloom a repetitive clientele. If this is known, we don’t think a hindrance will arise. We give prime concern to our food grade,quality and menu improvisations so that customers will find consistently something up to the minute when they pace in.
6) What habits contribute to your success?
When the complete seven of us gaze collaboratively, success is still distant from us. Our lineup is to fabricate Loaf a global brand and we know, it may clutch years for us. Interaction with customers constantly gave us motivation to progress further. According to us, quality of food served is undoubtedly and certainly one of the main fact behind sprouting the seeds of success of a restaurant.
7) If you had the opportunity to start this business again what would you do differently?
As I said before, mistakes never put you down. It takes you to superior altitude which we even can’t think about. Like,we always consistently learn from all those bullshits that we make,either it is as huge as mountain or as small as an ant.
8. What is your favourite inspirational quote?
Vision and Confidence drives you higher.
9. Where do you find inspiration?
Inspiration comes from everywhere. Just a word or even an expression from a kid can be an inspiration. We still recall the night when Mr. Rafih Filli, Founder and CEO of Filli Café dropped in as a customer to endeavour our dishes. Inspiration level of his conversation was too towering that we all felt superlatively charged jawing to him. His interesting tale which made him from zero to hero gave us inspiration.

11) What advice would you give to someone starting out?
If you have an idea,more importantly an aim,and if you are primed and all set to work vigorously hard for the same,and you are equipped to assemble your dreams,then that’s it,without a single doubt,just go for it. And always believe that ‘you can do it’.
When you enter the restaurant business, there would be pretty much pitfalls on your way. You can mess things up so easily. But having an unshakable optimism would help you weather the storm like a piece of cake.
Loaf, started by these seven youngsters, encountered numerous hurdles at the beginning. But the team had a clear vision and they put their collective effort to give a new savouring experience to customers. They experimented with the menu and made improvisations on the basis of customers’ feedback, which helped them earn a good reputation. The founders haven’t roped in any agency to maintain their vibrant Instagram account. They do the digital marketing all by themselves.
