Edtech platform Byjus’s App has acquired Begaluru-based online mathematics learning startup Math Adventures for an undisclosed amount. This is the fourth acquisition by Byju’s, the leading edtech startup in India.
Math Adventured was founded in 2012 by husband and wife duo, Ashok Nair and Vidya Jayaraman. It helps children learn through a combination of short videos and an activity-based approach that uses workbooks and tablets. Investment bank Merisis helped Math Adventures in the deal.
The company will become a part of the Byju’s content and R&D team after this deal. Math Adventure’s model involves a Math Adventures facilitator taking up one math class out of the allocated weekly math classes and making students understand concepts they had learnt in the conventional class using activities.
“Math Adventures’ activities will help us with our K-3 product development,” said Byju Raveendran, chief executive of Byju’s.
Byju’s currently offers learning programs for students in classes 4-12 (K-12) and competitive exams like JEE, NEET, CAT, IAS, GRE and GMAT.
